This new Korean restaurant is Cape Town’s best kept secret…
You know when you visit or move to a new country, try their local cuisine, and can’t even imagine your life without it? Well, that’s exactly what happened to me after spending four years in South Korea.
And now that I’m conquering the rest of the world, I’m always on the lookout for a great Korean restaurant or shop. And where did I find one? In Cape Town, South Africa.
Of course, there are many requirements that’ll lead a person to boldly admit that one place is -the best- and it’s true that everyone has their own taste. But given the authenticity of this restaurant (and my two friends who were in agreement), it’s fair to say that Korean Soul Kitchen in Stadium on Main, Claremont, is by far the taste of Korea that you’ve been looking for.
This restaurant is fairly new (having opened its doors at the end of 2017), and meals are prepared by a lovely ajumma (Korean older woman), who not only serves food that’ll make you feel like you’re back in Korea, but also makes her own kimchi… an absolute win.
So why did we love this place? They offer Korean BBQ that comes with all the side dishes for free (just like you would have in Korea), soju, and a norebang (karaoke)… all of your dreams in one place? I think so! Compared to all of the other overpriced and non-authentic Korean restaurants in Cape Town, this one definitely takes the cake.
Without further adieu, here are a few photos of this new Korean restaurant in Cape Town, Korean Soul Kitchen.
